Maxima Yamaha rider Aaron Morris has claimed the coveted Supersport championship by the narrowest of margins at the final round of the 2014 YMF Loan Yamaha Australian FX-Superbike Championship.

Morris went into the final race of the day in Sydney holding a three-point lead over closest rival Aiden Wagner (Yamaha), with a brand new R1 up for grabs to the championship winner.

In the final race, Wagner claimed victory making it three race wins from three on the day, however Morris’ second place had the championship tied on points overall. Third overall for the round was Callum Spriggs (Yamaha).

On a countback, Morris took the outright honours his season tally of 11 race wins compared to Wagner’s seven, enough to clinch the title.

New champion Matthew Harding swept the Formula Oz ranks in a Kawasaki trifecta, winning all three races to take the overall from Brayden Carr and Phil Lovett. British Superbike regular David Johnson also made his way on track riding a Lovett ZX-10R, finishing sixth overall.

Aprilia returnee Kevin Curtain won two from three races in the Pro Twins/Nakedbikes, topping the podium over final race winner Craig McMartin (Ducati) and first of the Nakedbike runners Angus Reekie (KTM). In the championship it was Simon Galloway (KTM) who won the Pro Twins, with Reekie the Nakedbike champion.

Kyle Buckley (Kawasaki) won the FX300 Ninja Cup round overall ahead of Brandon Demmery (Kawasaki), who sealed the title via a victory in race one. New Zealander Bailie Perriton (Kawasaki) made it the usual suspects on the podium, trailed by veteran racer Robbie Phillis (Kawasaki) in a one-off guest appearance.

Stuart Smith (Kawasaki) was first home of the FX250 Ninja Cup runners after title winner Grant Jordan (Kawasaki) failed to score points in the final bout. Smith was the winner overall from Stuart Green (Kawasaki) and Craig White (Kawasaki).
