The middle of the race is where Australian Moto2 standout Senna Agius says he needs to improve on in order to improve his world championship results after finishing 11th in the San Marino Grand Prix.

Agius made it into Q2 on Saturday and started from 16th on the grid in the series’ first visit to Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli this year, and made ground come Sunday.

A battle with Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP teammate Darryn Binder saw the pair finish in formation, 10th and 11th respectively, but it is mid-race where Agius sees himself building form in the coming rounds.

“Internally something to celebrate today, but better positions are slipping away from me in the middle of the race and I need to work out the bike and the grip,” Agius recalled.

“I could eventually run the lap-times I wanted towards the end, so it’s a bit strange. We need to work and analyse, and I need to do Saturdays better. 11th is still not all that bad and I’m already excited to come back here and have another go.”

Following 13 rounds this season, Agius is 15th in the Moto2 World Championship standings with a best result of fifth coming at Catalunya seven races ago.
