Youthful Australian Jacob Roulstone gritted his way through injury at the weekend’s 12th round of the 2024 Moto3 World Championship, the teenager suffering a frightening crash in qualifying.

The Red Bull GasGas Tech3 entry crashed heavily on the opening lap of Aragon’s Q2 session, remarkably walking away relatively unscathed despite being unable to return for the remainder of the outing.

Battered and bruised while nursing a hip complaint, Roulstone lined-up from P18 in Sunday’s 17-lap race in an impressive display, although his injuries evidently impacted him as he salvaged 21st position.

“I gave everything I had in today’s race,” said Roulstone. “I was struggling a lot on the bike with the pain from yesterday’s crash. [I’m] disappointed to end the weekend on this note. [I’ve] already started recovery with physio treatments this afternoon and will continue the next three days before heading into Misano this week.”

The Moto3 rookie sits 15th in the championship standings while compatriot Joel Kelso (BOE Motorsports) moved to ninth in the world rankings after a highly-impressive P5 result in Spain.

Australian Moto2 contender Senna Agius (Husqvarna Intact GP) finished just shy of the points in 16th and is ranked 15th in the standings as the MotoGP World Championship heads to Misano, Italy, this weekend for the 13th stop of the series.
