Melbourne-based dealer team MotoGo Yamaha has an Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) entry in the works for 2025, which will come in addition to its existing ASBK program.

MotoGo has been a staple in the Mi-Bike Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) in recent seasons under the ownership of former racer Patrick Li, currently fielding Bryan Staring.

It’s expected that Li’s operation will take on a more youthful focus from next year in what could become a pathway between the ASBK and ARRC series, but a rider line-up is yet to be confirmed. It’s also unclear where that will leave 2010 ASBK champion Staring’s career.

“My team is going to Asia for next year and we are doing both series,” Li told CycleOnline. “We will keep the team in ASBK and will also have the team in the ARRC. The riders will be young and exciting – we are working on it at the moment, Australian riders for both series. We love racing, it is a passion, and I have business ties distributing spare parts between Asia and Australia, so it makes sense.”

Australia has maintained close ties to the ARRC series since it visited The Bend in South Australia prior to the pandemic during 2018 and 2019. Former ASBK champion team Evolution Sports Group is currently active in Asia with Lachlan Epis, who raced to a maiden podium last month in Indonesia.

MotoGo had also fielded a team in the Australian ProMX Championship this season, however, Li has opted to focus on his road racing endeavours between the ASBK – which still has three rounds to run this year – and the Asian championship. The team is planning to debut in Thailand’s final round this December before a full-time entry for 2025.
