A pre-event shakedown is set to be staged on the eve of the Mi-bike Australian Superbike Championship’s (ASBK) return to One Raceway in October, the venue formerly known as Wakefield Park rejoining the calendar for the first time since 2022.

The Goulburn circuit had been a mainstay on the ASBK schedule until the previous owners – Benalla Auto Club (BAC) – ceased operations in September 2022 as a result of a court ruling that imposed strict noise limits, making it unfeasible to operate the venue according to the former stakeholders.

Wakefield Park was sold to Steve Shelley – owner of the nearby Pheasant Wood Circuit – in March 2023 and later rebranded as ‘One Raceway, which coincided with major upgrades to the venue along with a complete resurfacing of the 2.2km track.

The new surface was completed at the end of July, however ASBK management has indicated an official test day ahead of the sixth round on 4-6 October will not take place due to ongoing upgrades at the venue, and it will instead host an additional practice session on Thursday, 3 October.

The championship will visit Phillip Island before it heads back to New South Wales, the fifth round scheduled for 7-8 September at the seaside Victorian circuit.
