A breakthrough King of the Baggers victory in race one has been described as the ‘best yet’ by Troy Herfoss, the Australian also featuring on the Super Hooligan podium at Mid-Ohio’s stop of MotoAmerica.

The Indian Motorcycle’s rider surged back into form with a rewarding win in Saturday’s opener, returning on Sunday to finish runner-up to championship leader Kyle Wyman (Harley-Davidson Factory Racing), the duo now split by just 14 points with two rounds to go.

“That was our best [race win] yet,” Herfoss stated. “We’ve been second fiddle this weekend and the last few rounds to Kyle [Wyman]. It felt real nice to be able to get out and lead the race at my own pace. He always has a go, so he shot down underneath me, and I got back in front of him. Thank you to everyone that’s involved.”

The reigning Australian Superbike (ASBK)champion also contested Sunday’s pair of Super Hooligan racers, registering 5-3 race results to position himself fifth in the championship standings.

With the next stop of MotoAmerica scheduled for 13-15 at Circuit of the Americas, it’s not yet clear if Herfoss will return home to Australia to make an ASBK appearance at Phillip Island’s fifth round on 7-8 September.

The three-time ASBK champion contested the first three rounds with DesmoSport Ducati before a clash of dates forced him to miss Morgan Park’s stop last month.
