Australian Lachlan Epis has scored a breakout podium at Mandalika’s fourth round of the 2024 Idemitsu FIM Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC), marking a milestone achievement for the Evolution Sports Group entry.

Epis took his BMW M1000 RR from the third row to an incredible P3 result in race one, finishing just shy of runner-up honours to earn his maiden ASB1000 podium at the Indonesian circuit.

While unable to replicate the podium performance in race two, the 24-year-old still put on a respectable display of riding to earn valuable points with a sixth-place finish.

“Overall I’m pumped with the weekend – our first podium here in ARRC and then backed it up with another strong ride today,” Epis reflected. “We have a little bit of homework left to do to truly close the gap, but we’ve made massive steps this weekend and shown that we are capable of podiums and soon wins also.

“My guys have been behind me through a lot, and it’s nice to finally break through and reward all their sacrifices. As always in sport you’re only as good as your last result so we will celebrate tonight and then shift focus to round five in Malaysia in September.”

Epis sits eighth in the championship standings as the series heads to Sepang International Circuit for round five on 13-15 September.
