Red Bull GasGas Tech3 rider Jacob Roulstone admits he’s ‘lost for words’ after a nightmare outing at the Sachsenring’s ninth round of the 2024 Moto3 World Championship, where he ultimately registered his first DNF of the season.

The Moto3 rookie was battling for position inside the top 10 before contact with Leopard Racing’s Angel Piqueras sent him into a violent loss of control, yet remarkably, he was able to ride it out as he entered the gravel trap.

The Australian teenager attempted to salvage what he could after being relegated down the field and riding what was now a damaged motorcycle, however he would crash just a lap later at turn 11.

“That happened quite quickly,” Roulstone reflected. “I felt so comfortable on the bike and had figured everything out – I was controlling the pace and the tyres. I was happy but then the contact happened and I’m a bit lost for words.

“Everything was bent on the bike afterwards and I lost it while trying to get back in the rhythm. It was good to have more experience back at the front – I’m disappointed but these things happen.”

The number 12 had scored points in every round up until the German grand prix on Sunday, which now sees him positioned 12th in the championship standings. Fellow Australian Joel Kelso (BOE Motorsports) continued his consistent run of strong performances, finishing P11 to hold down 10th in the standings.
