Teenager Jacob Roulstone has labelled the Dutch grand prix as a ‘challenging weekend’, the Red Bull GasGas Tech3 rider salvaging points in what was the eighth round of 2024 Moto3 World Championship.

The Australian indicated he struggled to come to terms with the Assen circuit, admitting he felt a ‘session or two behind’ from the get-go on Friday, translating to an enduring weekend.

After qualifying in 20th position, Roulstone gritted his way through Sunday’s 20-lap encounter to cross the line in P14, picking up two valuable championship points to position himself 11th in the standings.

“It was a challenging weekend,” Roulstone stated. “It didn’t click for me on Friday and I felt like I was a session or two behind. I had high expectations of myself – I was trying to gain positions and not make too much contact in the race. I wasn’t too confident with my pace today so I did the best I could in the group around me.

“I positioned myself and was quite happy to win the battle there. The team worked really hard to keep me positive and focused for this weekend so I cannot thank them enough.”

Compatriot Joel Kelso (BOE Motorsports) finished 12th and now sits ninth in the world championship, which is set to return this weekend at the Sachsenring in Germany.
